Busby Equitation Centre
Busby Equitation Centre is located in the South Glasgow area and welcomes riding enthusiasts from complete beginners through to the more experienced rider. Riders can book a one on one individual lesson through to group lessons and hacks, while the centre prides itself on offering expert tuition and guidance at all times in their indoor and outdoor arenas.
With safety in mind those who are new to riding are required to be assessed so that instructors can see how experienced or not you are, while Busby offer advice regarding buying your own horse and also provide horses and ponies for rent too. Busby offer a great selection of ponies and horses to suit riders' needs and also run a pony club and competitions for those a little more proficient in their riding skills. Children who are learning to ride will have lots of fun when spending their birthday with Busby as they offer superb parties where even non-riders can join in the activities. Children will enjoy a pony ride plus play lots of great games when attending a pony party, while a minimum of four children per party is required. Busby also cater for adult parties and corporate events that include a glass of champers for its participants.
The Saddle Club
The Saddle Club at Busbys is held every two weeks and is open to all abilities of rider from novices through to the more experienced. Kids will love being a member of the Saddle Club as not only will they be able to improve their riding ability but they will also learn how to care for a pony and keep an orderly stable. Members are supervised at all times plus will receive a 10% discount card on joining the club.
Rent a Horse
Those who have never owned a pony may find it a daunting prospect as there is so much to consider such as the ongoing upkeep of the pony and the costs incurred when doing so. By renting a pony from Busby riders will be able to experience what it's like before they make that all important decision. The pony you rent will remain at the stables but renters will have to make sure the pony is kept clean, exercise him, pay for shoeing and worming plus pay the livery charges. Busby endeavours to team up riders and horses that suit each other, while the experience is great for determining if owning a horse is for you.
Busby do not list their charges on their website therefore those interested in booking lessons must ring the number listed on the Busby website to ascertain how much your lessons will cost. It does however say that if you book six sessions you will be entitled to a 10% discount.

Milndavie Farm Riding Centre
Milndavie is located in Strathblane which is just thirty minutes from Glasgow, is surrounded by rolling hills and moorland so making it the perfect place for riders new and more experienced to indulge their passion. Lessons are available here for adults and children alike, while their top coaches will soon put riders at ease whatever their ability status.
Parents will be delighted to know that Milndavie are well equipped and experienced in dealing with young children who wish to learn to ride and endeavour to make their experience enjoyable so that they will wish to return again and again. Lessons come in the shape of Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced categories meaning there is a lesson to suit all levels of ability.
Milndavie has a superb custom built outdoor school for those learning to ride, while the moors are but five minutes away for those experienced enough to ride a rougher terrain. Pub rides are organised every Thursday along with occasional Beach rides too, while riding hats are available to hire for those who do not have a hat.
It's great to know that if you own a horse but do not own a stable you can pay for livery services at Milndavie, while there are number of livery choices offered depending on how much you wish to spend. Self Service Livery costs £35.00 and includes stabling your horse and grazing, while on-site hay and feed are also available.
DIY Livery costs £59.00 and includes straw bedding, feed, hay, Turn out, catch in plus exercise by mutual arrangement with the stables. Full Livery costs £80.00 per week with Milndavie taking care of all that your horse needs giving owners' great peace of mind safe in the knowledge that their horse is well cared for.

Crowwood Riding School
Located in Muirhead Glasgow, Crowwood welcomes visitors who wish to take a look at their facilities prior to booking lessons. This superb riding school caters for all comers of any ability including those with learning disabilities and disabled riders. The school also offers group pony trekking experiences whether it’s a family group or a work team, all are welcome here.
Children are also welcome to come along to Crowwood and learn about grooming and caring for ponies, while they can also lead the horses around so giving children the opportunity to become familiar with the animals before learning to ride.
Crowwood offers the following services and events for its rider to consider
Crowwood boast two new arenas to add to their fabulous original arena. They have one indoor arena with cushion track surface and one outdoor arena with combi-ride surface. The school also boasts all weather trails that feature hedges, ditches and water giving the rider a real outdoor jumping experience.
Livery Services offered here are superb with riders having the choice of either Full Livery or Part Livery, whichever suits best. Full Livery includes everything you and your horse could possibly require in terms of the care and upkeep of the animal, while it also offers access to gallops, trails, horse walker and complimentary rates when joining Crow Wood Leisure.
Part Livery includes haylage and shaving bale, discretionary turn out and bringing in, use of gallops and trails plus some mucking out. The horse walker and washroom services are available at an extra charge, while holiday and short term livery is also available at times.
The fitness centre at Crowwood is for members only, while customers of the Equestrian Centre are offered favourable rates. The Fitness Centre houses a fantastic gym with state of the art equipment along with a 25 metre swimming pool, while following a session at the club members can enjoy a meal in the bistro or a drink in the bar.
Lessons cost £17.00 per hour, while booking ten in advance will entitle the rider to one free lesson.

Roundknowe Farm is located off the M74 between Glasgow Fort and Hamilton. Glasgow Fort is just six miles from the city centre therefore this school is ideally placed for those who live in the Glasgow area. The school boasts a great indoor arena along with a superb floodlit outdoor arena featuring an all-weather surface and thirty five stables.
Riding lessons here are offered for children from the age of four years and over along with adults, while all abilities and needs are catered for. This ABRS approved centre has a whole host of amazing horses and ponies for riders to choose from with mounts chosen that best suit the rider's needs. Features and facilities offered here include
Pony Parties at Roundknowe Farm are fun filled extravaganzas for children to enjoy. The centre wants to give your child a day to remember that is also safe and secure too. Each party includes a half hour riding lesson along with half an hour learning about how to care for a pony, groom him plus familiarise themselves with being around ponies. At the end of the party each child receives a rosette, while parties cost £24.00 per head.
Own a Pony
Children have a great time when owning a pony for a week. Every day from 10am to 4pm children join in sessions on how to care for a pony plus learn all there is to know about caring for him. Own a Pony for a Week is also a great way for your child to spend time with their peer group while also having lots of pony filled fun too. Own a Pony for a Week costs £100.00 so makes a great present or holiday alternative for your child to enjoy.
Roundknowe offer a range of livery services for riders to consider depending on their budget or which part of the services you wish to pay for. Options include a full livery service, DIY livery services and working livery services. Roundknowe pride themselves on the service they offer in order to give owners peace of mind. Woodend Riding Centre
Woodend Riding Centre is ideally located for those who live in the Glasgow area therefore whether you wish to learn to ride for fun or for competitive reasons Woodend will endeavour to get you there. Woodend is a family run business that offers a range of facilities including
Livery services here are very adaptable taking into consideration the needs of customers and what they can afford to pay. The stables are new and modern in design with plenty of grazing space, while DIY livery is also offered with a certain amount of assistance. Customers can rest assured that whichever services they choose their mount will be well cared for in every way.
Children will have a fun filled birthday party when they choose to celebrate at Woodend. Parties cost £20.00 per head and include half hour riding sessions and half hour grooming session, while guests have the use of a designated room where they can eat, cut their birthday cake and present the after party rosettes. A minimum of four guests is required rising to a maximum of eight in all.
When it comes to hacking and trekking Woodend offers plenty of safe off road tracks to ride where participants will enjoy honing their riding skills. Examples of tracks available include around Antonine Wall and Dumbreck Marshes Nature Reserve. Trainers here also take the temperament of a horse into consideration when teaching them to jump fences therefore riders who wish to learn how to jump can be assured of a suitable mount that will offer them a smooth ride and jump.
