Edinburgh and Lasswade Riding Centre

Edinburgh and Lasswade Riding Centre

Located just on the outskirts of Edinburgh, off Junction 3 of the M8 Motorway, this great riding school caters for riders from the age of two upwards, complete novices and more experienced riders so why not go along to take a look what's on offer before you book a lesson at the centre? The centre has over fifty horses of varying ages and sizes and even offers Shetland ponies for the littlest ones, while indoor and outdoor arenas are available too.

Facilities and Rides offered here include

Off Road Hacking and Trekking

Trekking is suited to riders who are just beginning their lessons with the pony being led by an experienced rider in order to help newcomers and small children gain in confidence. Even those who are competent walking their pony are best suited to joining a trek.

Hacking is for the more experienced rider who is able to trot or canter with their mount. Hackers will negotiate woodland areas and streams, while sometimes beach rides are available weather permitting.

Private Lessons

Riders may book private lessons whether they are beginners or more competent, while dressage lessons and jumping lessons may also be taken privately too. In order to ascertain at what level your riding skills are riders need to speak to an instructor so that their private lesson can be tailored to their individual needs.

Group Lessons

Group lessons offer a more social aspect when it comes to lessons with many riders preferring to be taught along with a group of friends or colleagues. Group lessons are offered for a maximum of fourteen riders at any one time and the riding centre will even send a mini bus to any meeting point you specify to pick your group up. Favourable discounts are also offered to groups which can make joining a group lesson much more affordable.

Border Common Rides

These rides are between five and twenty five miles long so are aimed at the more experienced rider, not for the faint hearted. Correct riding gear must be worn including a suitable riding hat, while booking forms are available from the website.

Parties

Riders may wish to book a birthday party at the centre with parties catering for adults and children alike. The package includes learning about ponies, grooming and a pony ride, while a party food box is also provided in with the package.
